Chamber Day In Olympia, Wednesday, February 3
On Wednesday, February 3rd, our legislative delegation will be in Olympia participating in Chamber Day. Our day’s activities include sessions organized by the Washington Chamber of Commerce Executives, Washington Alliance for a Competitive Economy, Association of Washington Business, and the East King County Chambers of Commerce Legislative Coalition. Session speakers include Lt. Governor Brad Owen, Roger Weed with the Department of Commerce, the State Auditor, State Treasurer, the Attorney General, and numerous department directors. The afternoon begins with lunch with Governor Gregoire followed by individual meetings with our districts’ senators and state representatives.
The Chamber believes strongly that businesses employing people make for a strong economy--not government mandates, regulations, and taxation. This is one of the messages we will be delivering to each and every one of our legislators. As a member of the East King County Chambers of Commerce Coalition, we will also be hand carrying the legislative agenda priorities developed by the coalition over the past few months.
One of the most effective means of communicating with our legislators is in the telling of personal stories of how government has helped or hindered a business’ ability to grow. If you have a story to tell regarding your business, please e-mail or call me so we can carry your message to Olympia or assist you in communicating directly with one of our legislators.
